I recently attempted to "compact all folders" in OE5. The process completed about 95% and stopped responding, although there was continuous disk access. Here is advice from another post: -- Ronald Sommer Move all your message out of Sent Items and the Inbox, as well as any other default OE folder, to local folders you create and then compact all your folders. It appeared to work and now i can't compact. it seems to get stuck at different folders to, at least that's what i'm noticing by memorizing all of my folders and hearing witch one it stops on. Keep all these folders not much more than 100MB each. After you have moved all messages out of the Inbox, compact all folders. Click on Outlook Express at the top of the File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed. If the Inbox fails to compact, create a new one.
